The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Camaro is the sixth generation Camaro and looks everything like a muscle car should. The new models are lighter, smarter, quieter and faster than their predecessors.
The build quality is superior and the new Camaro travels on Cadillac underpinnings and has a better power to weight ratio of 8.09 pounds per horse.
A Lot Of The Fat Has Been Trimmed
Chevrolet has reduced the weight of the 2016 Camaro and the V6 version is almost 300 pounds lighter than last year’s model. The V8 is over 220 pounds lighter and the turbo four is 390 pounds lighter than the previous V6 model. These weight savings improve the overall handling of the car and provide improved acceleration and fuel economy.
The new Camaro has a Cadillac ATS rear drive chassis and this makes it around 20% lighter than previous models with the Zeta chassis. Chevy has looked at every detail and this includes reducing the weight of the wheels and even trimming long bolts of their extra threads.
Despite shedding all of this weight, the new Camaro has a 28% stiffer chassis. This produces very nimble and sharp handling and a very good grip on the road. The new Camaro also delights with a very smooth and quiet drive. The steering is really precise and provides good feedback from the road. It is very well weighted and provides a solid feel when you are cruising down the highway.
Still Looking Great
You will be impressed with the new look of the Camaro. The grille and headlights have been narrowed and the air intake has a sleeker and more pronounced look. The old fog lights have been replaced with LED lighting. The back has changed too with a more protruding bumper and upward tilting tail lights.
Although there have been some changes to the new Camaro, it still retains its muscle car, wide hipped profile. The low roofline and high cowl have been retained and the car still looks stunning. Chevy will not change the styling that much, because it was so good in the first place and owners love its classic good looks.
New 2 Liter Turbo Choice
If you are looking for a new Chevrolet Camaro then you will have the choice of three engines. There will be a 2 liter turbo, 4 cylinder engine outputting 275 horsepower, a 3.6 liter, V8 engine outputting 335 horsepower and a 6.2 liter, V8 which has an output of 455 horsepower. You will be able to choose from a 6 speed manual or 8 speed automatic transmissions.
What about the new Chevrolet Camaro prices? Well the prices will start at $25,700 and will go up from there depending on engine size and other options. There will be a $995 delivery charge added to the final total.
Depending upon which model you are driving, the new Chevrolet Camaro will rocket you from 0-60 in 5.7 seconds for the 2 liter turbo, 5.2 seconds for the V6 and an incredible 3.9 seconds for the V8. The engines are all more efficient than the previous models.
What About Features?
The new Camaro has had its interior revamped for 2016. There are no more analog gauges and these have been replaced with different buttons and either a 7 or 8 inch touch screen depending upon the model that you have.
The steering wheel now has a flat bottom in contrast to the older models which were round. The seats have been improved too and are really comfortable. Heating and cooling is available for the seats. As with all Camaro’s the back is a little cramped. But this is a sports muscle car not a family saloon.
Chevy can now offer you "ApplePlay" with your new Camaro, and this will enable you to play sounds using your iPhone. It will even read text messages to you. If you don’t have an iPhone then Chevy have promised an Android version of this soon.
